PG David Sympson to Speak at Patriot's Day Luncheon
David Sympson, the 107th President General elected at SAR’s 120th Annual Congress for the term of 2010-11, is the keynote speaker for our Patriot’s Day luncheon at the Concord Inn April 17th at 2pm. David has chaired many vital committees, including the Host Committee of the 111th Annual Congress, the Council of State Presidents, Headquarters & Facilities Committee (eight years), Louisville Liaison, History, and the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee. His leadership has served numerous other national committees, including Nominating, Internal Audit, Color Guard, Membership, Merchandise, and Historic Celebration. He has also served as Secretary of the SAR Museum Board and Secretary of the SAR Foundation. He is a new member first line signer of 49 members.
PG Sympson is the author of numerous scholarly works published in SAR Magazine and wrote the introduction of the SAR Membership Directory, Our Patriots: Patriotic Legacy of SAR. He designed and created SAR’s Congress Appreciation Medal, developed the SAR Congress Planning Guide, organized the History Huddle, organized the Task Force for Registration, Education & Reporting and established national standardized membership reporting, and was instrumental in the development of the National Headquarter’s Life Cycle Analysis & Cross Reference Maintenance Guide. He is a George Washington Fellow and Ruby Level Contributor to the Center for Advancing America’s Heritage.
A Distinguished Military Student in the University of Kentucky ROTC, David Sympson was trained in Commerce with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky, managed sales operations of a successful family-owned business with direct supervision of 75 employees, served as a Vice President of the international food giant, Beatrice Food Company, with over $12 billion in annual sales. He is a decorated officer in the Vietnam War (Captain, U.S. Army) and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. His unit received the Meritorious Unit Citation.
Sympson’s devoted wife, Evelyn, shares his passion for SAR and serves as National President of the SAR Ladies’ Auxiliary. He has two children who share his passion of America’s founding: Daniel, a member of SAR; and Laura, a member of DAR; and three patriotic grandsons: Jonathan Sympson and Samuel and Leo Cornelius.
